Nigerian doctors suspend strike over Ebola.

Public doctors in Nigeria  August 7th called off their 5-week old strike to help against the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, the doctors listed “the incursion of Ebola into Nigeria” as a main reason for suspending the strike.

Just yesterday, the Lagos state government through the Commissioner for Health, Dr Idris Jide, had appealed to striking doctors to call of their strike so as to help contain the spread of the virus.

Update: The doctors have since denied calling off the strike. They said they met yesterday to talk about calling off the strike but couldn't reach an agreement.
