Two female suicide bombers bomb Kano, kill three

Two female suicide bombers on Monday struck in two separate locations within the Kano metropolis, killing three persons and injuring several others.
Monday’s incident came barely 24 hours after a similar incident occurred.
The first of the day’s attacks happened at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Mega Station, located at the Eastern by-pass, Kano.
Eyewitnesses said a female suicide bomber joined a queue of people queuing up to buy kerosene before detonating her Improvised Explosive Device, killing three people and injuring several others.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adelenre Shinaba, confirmed the development to newsmen in Kano.
He explained to journalists that the female suicide bomber pretended to be a customer when she sneaked into a long queue of potential customers and blew herself up.
The police boss said, “The incident occurred around 10.00am.”
He added that doctors at Murtala Muhammad Hospital confirmed the death of three, out of the 10 people evacuated from the scene to the hospital.
He said the seven injured persons were being treated for varying degrees of injuries at a state government owned hospital.
Sinaba stated, “The entire fuel service station is safe and intact.”
He pointed out that operators of the station had since resumed rendering services to members of the public.
The second blast of the day occurred when a female suicide bomber, suspected to be around 19 years old,  blew up herself and injured six others, including two policemen, at the entrance gate of the Kano Trade Fair complex.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, ASP Magaji Majia, told journalists that the incident occurred around 2pm when security operatives stopped the suspicious looking female for screening at the gate of the multipurpose complex, which houses several shopping malls including Shoprite.
Majia , however, said the policemen had been treated and discharged, while the remaining four persons are still in the hospital, receiving medical attention.
He said the mangled body of the female suicide bomber had been recovered and deposited at an undisclosed government hospital.
The police spokesman said investigations have commenced with a view to unraveling the mystery behind the renewed attacks on the city.
